Chequamegon Books in Washburn, WI is not listed, which is an actual crime. Really. Neither is Spinster Books in Ashland WI, which is silly because Spinster loves me and mine, and we do imitations of giraffes among other things. The first time we were in there, Daughter and I came up with the word for apple in 5 separate languages; she loves us. Also notable for being the first bookstore upon which I inflicted my enthusiastic endorsement of Moby Dick including reading a section of chapter 64 entitled Stubb’s Supper. (Okay, here’s the deal. I won’t post the selection here, but you owe me.) (All bookstores have a copy of Moby Dick; and all the owners are ashamed like it’s a dirty secret.) (Also, sometimes I’m not good in public.)
You can never have too many books!
Beat you to the punch — Avid in Athens has more of my money. . .
It’s always a good day to support indie bookstores. It’s also Local Yarn Shop day. I’m not sure they should fall on the same day.
