Joining Kat and her merry band of Unravelers. Go see what the others are up to.

Sorry, no photos. A completed hat and one a quarter done. Next week…
Reading.

The Paladin by David Ignatius. Ignatius is my new favorite author. He writes thrillers; the two I have read, including this one, are esp 3ionage plots. Call me shallow, but I love me a good thriller/mystery/suspense novel. And Ignatius delivers. 3✭

Shrines of Gaiety / Kate Atkinson. London in the 1920s. Corruption rampant. One honest policeman, aided by one spunky woman. Only halfway through, but quite good.

We do not go to a lot of movies, but after reading a couple very favorable reviews of Air, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, I talked Smokey into a dinner-and-a-movie date last week. The story of the film — how Nike signed Michael Jordan to a contract — didn’t particularly interest us, but the reviews had said that it was a well-done movie. And I agreed. 4✭
It’s so fun to have a little date night now and again! I’ve also heard good things about Air, so glad you liked it, too. I’m looking forward to seeing it (someday). XO
What fun to have a date night that includes a movie! 🙂
I have wondered about the Ignatius books! Thanks for the recommendation!
Getting out for dinner and a movie sounds like a great idea. I recently finished Atkinson’s book and throughly enjoyed it. Her writing is a treat.
Shrines is on my TBR list and now I will add Ignatius as an author to find. Thanks!! A date night sounds so nice (and I just got back from vacay where we were out a lot…still…)
Kate Atkinson is one of my VERY favorite authors. I’ve read most of her books more than once, but I haven’t read Shrines yet. (It’s parked in my Kindle, waiting its turn on that long long loooooooong list of books-to-be-read.) (And now you’ve just added to the list with Ignatius…) (I’m also planning to add the Slow Horses series to my list after watching the show on AppleTV) (Spies!)
Two excellent books to try. Thanks for the recommendations.
Nothing wrong with enjoying a good thriller! SHRINES OF GAIETY sounds interesting. I’ve been enjoying Jazz Age books lately.
