Joining Kat and friends. Go see what the others are up to.

Knitting.

Only an inch-and-a-half to go!

Reading.

Missing, Presumed / Susie Steiner. Police procedural set in Cambridgeshire, England. Protagonist is DS Manon Bradshaw, thirty-nine, single, and not happy about it. A young woman goes missing; her father is a doctor to the royal family and name-drops other high-prestige friends. Lots of pressure, the case drags on for weeks. There are two more books to date in this series; I will be reading them. 3★

Neanderthal Opens the Door to the Universe / Preston Norton. This is a YA book, and I generally do not care for them. However, this one is keeping me interested. Cliff, a high school student, is 6’6″ — BIG! Classmates, in true high school fashion, tease him with a nickname: Neanderthal. Then the ultracool quarterback enlists him to “make [this high school] suck less.” Cliff agrees, and the story progresses from there. 4★

Listening.

Origin Story / David Christian. Continuing with my frustrated pursuit of astrophysics and quantum mechanics, I am listening to this. It is significantly easier to follow than the Brian Greene book or Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s book. Will I be able to actually finish it? I am cautiously optimistic. Stay tuned

Watching.

sd

The Great British Baking Show, season 8. These are such fun, but I find them so interesting that I keep putting down my knitting and watching. Grrr. 4★

I really love the colors in your nearly-finished hat! (And the GBBS always makes me hungry . . . and craving cake.) XO

  2. Kathlee Walsh says:

I recommend two on Netflix: Snow Walkers and Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The first was made based on a Farley Mowat story in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. The second in an Asian series about a brilliant attorney with autism who is fixated on whales.

I’ve been deep in the GBBS’s clutches for years! Starting watching at about season 4? 5? in real time, then went back and watched every available earlier season plus the holiday shows. Have anxiously awaited every episode since!
Though I love to bake, I don’t have anyone to bake for and I don’t have a sweet tooth myself. I think this is the only reason I haven’t ended up knee-deep in Windsor Chantilly Sweetie-pies and Creme Caramel Alpine Flugeltortenjammers…

What pretty colors in the hat. I have never watched the GBBS. This time of year I begin to crave baked goods but the two of us don’t need to have that stuff around.

  5. I love the colors in that yarn! It really knit up in a pretty way, too. I’m never sure with multi-colored yarn what I’ll think of the end result, but in this case it’s lovely.
