Saturday, minus the links.

When I put on my iWatch this morning I got two surprises:

  • The display showed a fireworks display, which made me smile.
  • It also showed that it was -6F˚, which made me shake my head.

Here is our ten-day forecast:

Welcome to winter in the Great Frozen North! First it gets disgustingly cold*, then it warms up and snows, then it gets cold again, then it warms up and snows, then it gets cold again. Rinse & repeat.

Too bad I don’t have any warm woolens to wear

* I love to complain about the weather, but I actually love winter. When I was a teenager — and mega-stoopid — I would go skiing every weekend, no matter what the temp. My mother thought I was crazy. As an adult, I welcome autumn because it means I can start dressing in layers again. Plus, winter is the most beautiful season here, imo.

It is snowing here in Illinois and they are predicting 7+ inches. Luckily, my oldest son lives with me and he loves to shovel! I will help but he does the heavy work.
    Stay warm!! 🙂

Winter and Spring are It for me. I hate Summer and loathe Spring. Give me changing leaves and roaring fires any day.

Phil laughed when I read him the comment about you not having any warm woollens to wear, Phil says he is the same as you. He loves winter. It must be from the shared genetic heritage! My favourite season is fall, followed by spring. I get ill when it is too hot, and I often avoid going out in the extreme cold. Starting in the fall and ending in late spring, Phil enjoys wearing his layers of waffled long johns, t-shirts under his shirts, then polar fleeces or sweaters over those. It makes it easy to buy him Christmas gifts! Wooly socks, scarves, and mittens, long johns, shirts and leisure pants for indoor lounging are all appreciated!

I’m not a fan of winter, but I’ve always felt it’s easier to stay warm than to stay cool, so hello cold climate for me! Please pass me the woolies and a nice warm drink and I’m good to go!

I remember a winter in Minneapolis (one of many, but this one stood out) where we’d get (insert gawdawful amount of snow here- 10? 20? inches?) on Wednesday, which would be fairly cleaned up by Saturday, when it would drop to -40º. A friend out in Seattle didn’t understand why all her friends from Minnesota were going crazy.
Having said all that, I love winter.
    Happy New Year!

  6. I do appreciate the small touches like the Apple Watch having fireworks on New Year’s. It’s also fun if you use iMessage that they add effects for certain messages: balloons for “Happy birthday,” confetti for “Congratulations,” and fireworks for “Happy New Year.”

  7. I am so excited that I can get on your b1og again~~~ Kat you know I 1ove this creative p1ace!
