Disaster averted.
I much prefer a pattern like this, one that gives your eyes a place to rest.
“Nothing wrong with that, knitting is a practice, not a sport.”
So THAT was what that weirdo on January 6 was trying to be.
Neural network-designed knitwear.

Imagine the names for knitting injuries if knitting were a sport – knitter’s elbow, spinner’s ear,…
just 1ooking at the math knits gave me pause…..I wou1d be1ost!
I love how some of those skyknit patterns were so lovely – in a loose, chaotic manner. We all need that sometimes.
I just went to read the Atlantic article, and looking AGAIN at that first bit of knitting, “reverss shawl”? looks a Lot like a shawl pattern I may or may not be finished with (I threw it down in UghNoMore a few months ago). I mean, they cleaned it up so there was recognizable repetition and stuff, but the same garter/stockinette in the same row/either edge of the shawl thing.
I think I have five? projects abandoned. Sigh.
I agree, that afghan is really pleasant to look at with the white space. I’ll have to remember that kind of design if I plan another knitted blanket (rather than doing random scrap blankets like the one currently OTN).
