“Covid day 5. I think I turned the corner yesterday. I’m not as tired, and my nose is less stuffy. Now I feel like I’m getting over a cold. I didn’t need to take a nap today.”
(No updates for a few days.)
“Covid day 10. I’ll be going back to work tomorrow. I’m still coughing and sneezing every so often, but I feel much better than I did a week ago.
“I fell out of the habit of posting an update every day because last Sunday I spent the whole day writing a 20-page explanation of the evidence on the Pfizer vaccine. It sounds like it’s been pretty helpful for some other people at my hospital, and some other people whom they sent it to, but I kind of overdid it that day and was pretty worn out the next day.
“The thing that hasn’t gotten better is my sense of smell and taste. This seems to be oddly specific to whisky. I can taste food, but I don’t smell or taste any smoke in Laphroiag 10, which is a very smoky scotch that I used to enjoy very much, back when I could taste it. I’m hoping that comes back.”
He went back to work today. His girlfriend tested positive a week ago; we are hoping her illness follows the same, mild course as his.
And that is the news from here…
Well, that sounds reassuring. Glad he is feeling better and hope his girlfriend heals quickly. I am sure you are feeling relieved (an understatement, I am sure!) COVID is strange with the taste/smell loss being part of the symptoms, isn’t it? I wonder how long that will last.
Stay safe!
WOW I saw the “headline” and said OMG Kathy has Covid. Glad to hear Andrew is getting better and it’s not you that is sick. Hugs and Merry Christmas
Keeping fingers crossed for nothing but happy news for you and yours! Glad ES is feeling better!
Glad the Son of the South is feeling better. Hope his partner is too.
Hope that is as far as the COVID gets in your family. Glad he’s feeling so much better
I’m glad he’s recovering well, and I hope his girlfriend’s case follows the same mild path!
Glad to hear about ES’ recovery, and I do hope he gets his sense of taste and smell back. Not being able to test 10 yr old Laphroiag is awful!
