Joining Kat and friends for knitting and reading updates.
Knitting.
The Baby Surprise goes slowly, mainly because I keep having to tink back. It is TV knitting… until it isn’t. But I am enjoying it, and that’s the main thing, right?
Reading.
Catherine House by Elisabeth Thomas. This one was the April? May? selection for The Bloggess’s Strangeling Book Club. It definitely did not grab me. The characters were kind of interesting, but I could not identify with the protagonist at all. I found the premise… cloudy. 2✭
This was the fifth book I got from the book club. I have only liked one. Time to bail, I think.

The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda. Another blind mystery pick from my local library. There were two many secondary characters that were not fleshed out enough for me to remember why they were necessary to the plot. Or perhaps they were not really necessary? 2✭

Guilt by Jonathan Kellerman. Standard Kellerman/Delaware fare. 3✭

Killer by Jonathan Kellerman. Ditto.
The BSJ is my favorite new baby knit! (and it is one you do have to keep track of!)
I’ve only knit one Baby Surprise Jacket, many years ago, I’d used a very lightweight fingering yarn so it turned out really really really tiny. Failure, I thought, until a friend had a premature baby and the sweater turned out to be the perfect size for a coming-home-from-the-hospital sweater. My friend was delighted to have something that actually FIT her wee little boy.
I should try another one, one of these days. In the meanwhile, I’ll enjoy watching yours grow.
I have never knit a baby surprise jacket. (What kind of knitter am I???)
I love the BSJ! I have all Elizabeth Zimmerman’s books, just because I love reading them. She was quite the woman!
I will have to make that EZ baby sweater some day! !!! My shawl is giving me fits again.
I was headed to bed, but Trevor Noah is having Joe Biden on…..so I’ll keep binding off my shawl !!
I think enjoying your projects is the MAIN thing. I knit a BSJ a long time ago – magic knitting for sure. The blues are pretty together.
I enjoyed the one BSJ I knit, but I do remember it being a little fiddly because it didn’t do what I expected it to do. Still, I remember enjoying it and it will definitely be one I knit again if I find out a friend is having a baby.
