Three things that are annoying me right now.
- The American Red Cross is annoying me. I give blood regularly, and after every donation the technician tells me when I can next donate. Why cannot that information be merged into my record? I get emails begging me to donate THE DAY AFTER I DONATED, fer cripes sake! Don’t bug me until the 60 days or whatever have elapsed!
- The driver’s windshield wiper on my car has broken twice this week. Smokey’s fix of the first break was apparently not sufficient. Windshield wipers are pretty darned handy when the roads are sloppy, as they may be at this time of year.
- The left speaker attached to my computer has stopped working. The right speaker and the subwoofer under my desk soldier on. Just because I bought these things over 20 years ago shouldn’t they still work? Like, forever?
The windshield wiper would be my biggest concern, I hope Smokey comes up with a permanent fix for that one. And yes, I definitely think the Red Cross could get their act together and speakers should work forever!
You’ve had a real trail of broken things lately, haven’t you? I hope from now on everything works properly and forever for you. Especially those windshield wipers.
The Red Cross apparently is in need of an entire system update. I have lived in PA for over 5 years now, have changed my address with them and they still send me urgent requests for my old address.
And, I hope that wiper gets fixed permanently soon! I expect the sloppy road conditions to be at a peak for much of the remainder of this month!!
I once fixed the metal arm of a windshield wiper with duct tape. It worked fine, but I did eventually get it replaced.
Most simple old speakers are too simple to break down. Is that speaker more exposed to occasional accidental kicks or knocks with the broom/vacuum than the other one? It may just need soldering, or if the wire itself has failed (should be easy to test), a new wire. Speakers can run on lamp wire.
A non-working wiper or worn out blade are THE WORST at this time of year!! I hope you can get that fixed soon!
I have the same complaint about the Red Cross. Both my younger son and I regularly donate blood, so I was also getting multiple emails, letters, and phone calls to donate more blood again, and money, too. I waded through their mess of a website to find an unsubscribe link, and finally spoke to a human being. When I told her we were ceasing any more blood donations unless they stopped harassing me, then the persistent pestering stopped.
I’ve had the same issue with the Red Cross, too. And yet, while they’ve been sending me “urgent need” emails for months (since my last donation) I didn’t get a “you are eligible now” email. You’d think that one would be the more important email for them to send out. Someday my schedule will be settled enough that I can schedule my appointments further in advance, but I’m not there yet. Oh well.
Thank you for donating blood even thought they can be pesky with incessant reminders. I had to stop for a Year after my dental implant. I can give again now, but Im so tired after a cold, I’m going to wait a bit more.
RE: speaker. Did you try shutting it off and turning it back on? (ducking and running)
