K sent me a link to the original, 2011 journal article.
The reading is a bit heavy going given that it is an academic journal article. I just requested the 169-page book from 2018 from the library. Happily, I will have to wait because all 5 copies in my library system are checked out, with 3 hold requests in the queue. I take that as a really, good, good thing. People in largely white rural n.w. Wisconsin are actively interested in learning how to combat racism.
I found the reviews and comments defensive… Let us know if this is a great read!
I am on the Wait List for White Fragility – I am moved that so many in the BIPOC community have suggested it as a “must read”
Thanks for the links 🙂
I’m on hold for it in my library system, too, but my waiting list is longer… 8)
Which, I agree, is good news!
I just finished it recently and it’s a really thoughtful book. There was, sadly, a very racist incident in the city next to us last week and reading this book helped me to see it in a whole new and different light.
I also just finished reading it. Excellent book. One of those that really shifts your thinking (if you let it). I’m heartened that you have to wait in line for it. (I didn’t. . . ) XO
