Say hello to the kitties: a contest!

The kittens are currently confined to the bathroom for a couple days until I feel like they have bonded properly (and have the location of the litter box firmly embedded into their teeny-tiny brains). Then their world will expand to our bedroom and eventually the entire house. That is as far as they will go, however; given what happened to Hannibal and En Esch, these gals will be indoor cats.

The names they came from the shelter with were China and Marge, but those names must go. We have been playing around and have come up with these:

  • Snowball and Inkblot
  • Volt and Ohm (China is kitteh-ADD, Marge is so laid back as to be nearly a slug (that’s a good thing))
  • Cleo and Patty
  • Stripe and Spot
  • Tiger and Leopard
  • Patty and Selma (from The Simpsons)
  • Guinevere and Morgan la Fey (or Morgaine)
  • Blondie and Angel [Eyes] (Name that movie!)
  • Milo and Otis (Name that movie!) (Yeah, these are both females. What’s your point?)

Clearly, we need help. Throw your suggestions into the comments by noon CDT on Wednesday, 8/16, and we’ll pick the winner. I’m not promising that the winner will be one of you, though. It is remotely possible that we may come up with the perfect names ourselves. In that case I’ll draw someone to be an alternate winner.

All prizes will be awarded.

  1. I suggest Thelma & Louise:)

  2. Chris says:

I was going to suggest Thelma & Louise, too! 😀

    They are absolutely adorable.

  3. gayle says:

I’ve used “My Cat” and “My Other Cat” as names… (They were a pair of yellow brothers who didn’t come when I called them anyway)

  4. Diane says:

I was going to suggest Thelma and Louise as well!! They are adorable! Love black kitties

  5. Debra says:

    Blot and Spot

  6. nancy davis says:

I also thought Thelma and Louise. How about Lucy and Ethel?

  7. Gisele Knopf says:

Ozzy or Ozzie (female) for Ozzy Osborne “Black” Sabbath and Elvira (Mistress of the “dark!”).

  8. kayT says:

    Black and White
All your friends will have to guess which one is white.

  9. Mary Jo says:

    Lucy and Ethel

  10. Linda says:

Salt and Pepper…. now, which one is Salt?

    Linda in VA

  11. Linda says:

Ebony and Ivory…. now which one is Ivory….

    Linda in VA

  12. Gail says:

Ella and Billie (as in Fitzgerald and Holiday)

  13. Bridget says:

    Mr and Ms

  14. Mary Jo says:

Enter more than once? Katniss and Everdeen or Katniss and Peeta (The Hunger Games)

  15. Kat with a K says:

Frick and Frack… and oh my are they ever cute!

  16. Kirsten says:

Don’t name her Katniss. Learn from my error. (She’s a tortoiseshell though. All bets are off.) If they’re both black, isn’t some parent a Siamese? Jing and Ping, the Siamese twins from Big Fish.
Daughter says Inky and Blinky. I say Itsy and Bitsy. Or Char and Coal. Daughter says Mickey and Oswald (who apparently was a lucky rabbit. Huh). Tacey and Stacey? Lottie and Lisa, the story from whence the Parent Trap sprung? (get it?) (oh, you do not like the puns. Sorry) Sun and Moon? Diana and Artemis.

  17. Mary Jo says:

Okay, no Katniss…Cagney and Lacey, Penny and Amy (Big Bang Theory), Scarlett and Melanie…My dogs are Molly and Lilly (my husband’s blog has photos: ), but maybe dog names aren’t the best idea. My son’s Bengal cat is named Itsy and his girl friend has a black cat called Julian, but they are males.

  18. kalitsu says:

From my family tree names, Ottilia and Lavinia, Tilli and Lavi for short. But hopefully the girls will reveal their True Names to you soon so you can be properly introduced.

I’m sorry to hear your other two have gone missing; we recently lost one of our girls, Elli, and thought it was forever – she turned up miraculously four weeks to the day after she’d disappeared. The agony we faced while she was gone has deepened our resolve to keep the girls safe – so now my hubby is constructing a netting/fencing system similar to the one found here: Modifying it to be removable when we move from our German house back to the States next year, it will allow the girls to go outside in safety, we plan to put up something similar on the deck of our U.S. house so they can enjoy some fresh air and breezes.

  19. Doreen says:

Although I really like the names China and Marge, my suggestions are Bonnie & Clyde (or Clydette, if gender is an issue), or Yoko and Jon (Jonni), or Blackie and Blacker, or Sonny & Cher, or Simone & Garfunkel, or Sly & Stone or Spot & Puff.
