Ten on Tuesday, the simple joys edition.

Ten on TuesdayTen Simple Things That Bring Me Joy.

  1. Smells: coffee in the morning, wood smoke (as long as it is not from a forest fire), lilacs and lilies of the valley and old roses and sweet peas, fresh bread, something in the crock pot, wet earth after a rain.
  2. Smokey bringing me a treat — a dish of watermelon cubes, a cheese omelet — when I am reading in bed.
  3. Hearing, “Hey, mom!” when I answer the phone.
  4. The feel of the yarn in a new project. Just started a new carry-along project: a hat requested by a friend. Yarn is MadTosh fingering 🙂
  5. My house right after the cleaning lady leaves. The joy only lasts about a day, but it is pleasant. Tragically, my cleaning lady — who has worked for me on and off for nearly 20 years — is retiring from the job on medical advice. There is a remote possibility she may resume someday. ::fingers crossed::
  6. Hannibal purring next to my ear.
  7. Flowers blooming on my deck.
  8. Getting html to work the way I want. I have always liked working with computers in pretty much any capacity, but my meager knowledge of html makes that particularly challenging.
  9. Fresh snow (but not until November, please).
  10. Knowing cooler days are coming!

I’m with you on most everything except #10 there.

I was trying to come up with 10 – only came up with 4 (not that that there are not others – they just wouldn’t come into my brain!

I’ve always enjoyed coming home on a really cold afternoon – and jumping into my pj’s – even before having dinner! I love sitting with a fan blowing and whirring in the background (nothing else on in the house) and just reading my book….

And like you – knowing cooler weather is coming!

What a perfect list! I love the smells. So ordinary; so commonplace; and SO wonderful! Joy!

  6. Jocelyn says:

I really feel like we’d do well together, were we neighbors.
