Techie help needed.

I would like to add Google Analytics to this blog because I am a geek and a nerd and I like statistics. And because someone else whose blog I read — sorry, no longer remember who it was — mentioned that she uses Google Analytics and I want to be cool like her.

So I signed up and found the instructions and copied the code that has to be added to Puzzled-small the blog… and got totally stumped. The TypePad Knowledge Base says to copy the UA number of my Google Analytics account onto my Blog Settings > Stats page, but I cannot find a Stats page. I copied it into the appropriately labeled box on the Settings > Add-Ons page, but that hasn't produced any stats.

Do any of youse guys with a TypePad blog use Google Analytics? Can you tell me in non-technical words of one syllable how to add it to mine?

TIA.

Go to your Typepad page for this blog. Click on Settings. You’ll see a sidebar of options on your left. Click on Add-Ons. Copy/paste your UA Number thingy into the space for a UA Number thingy and hit Save Changes.
It will take some time for them to gather your info, but it does work. Let me know if you need more help. Also let me know if you want a link to a better free stats site.

And then I read what you’re actually asking for. Hai!
Go to the Overview page for your blog. On the right, there’s all kinds of info. If you scroll down a bit, you’ll see a clickable linkie thingy that says Google Analytics Dashboard. I’m thinking if you click on that, it will take you where you want to go.
Or I’m still wrong and you’ll never see me again.

I’m just going to sit back and read the answers. . . because I want to put this on my website at work. (We’re a struggling nonprofit. . .)

Not a clue but when you find out, I want to put it on my blog too. I’m sure Cookie’s right. Isn’t she always?

My experience adding it to my hosted WP blog helps you not at all, so good luck!

I’ve used Analytics for years, but not Typepad. However I do note that when you add Analytics to a blog, it takes 24-48 hours before data starts showing up.
It sounds like you’ve got the UA number in the right place. So my guess is if you wait it out, by Friday afternoon you’ll be getting data.

I think parks uses google analytics, or is it counter? on one of their web pages. I don’t, but that’s only because I’ll just go w/ the state’s stats thing, bulky as it is… I just need big numbers and it gives it to me.

NO… but thanks to you, now I can 🙂
